WHY AND HOW TO CENTER GENDER AND RACIAL EQUITY IN SEL WORKSHOP

In this professional development workshop, we’ll discuss what educators and youth workers told us their number one need right now: knowing how to center the wellness and strengthen the connections of their students right now. This workshop, focused on creating success with SEL for all students, is for educators, administrators, school counselors, CBO staff, after-school staff, and other youth-serving professionals.
Included in the training are four lessons you can use right away to nurture warm and authentic partnerships with youth and center gender and racial equity in social-emotional learning:

  • Three Minute Know Me: Exploring identity through voice and choice to build understanding in pairs, small groups, or the whole group
  • Emotions Stations: A game to identify feelings in different situations
  • Friendship values: Naming and prioritizing values in healthy relationships
  • Name that Style: Understanding conflict styles, and the benefits and challenges of different approaches

Taught by our California Program Manager Alie Jones, New York Program Manager, Cassandra Brown, and Chief Program Officer, Kendra Carr, this Healing-Centered Engagement Workshop is a two-hour interactive virtual workshop designed for teachers, program staff, counselors, and administrators who work with girls in grades 5-12.
